Update from New Zealand

Hey there! Thought it was time to do an update. All is good and we are now staying at a chicken farm, in Wellsford, New Zealand! Had a fantastic time with the relatives in Sydney and so far an awesome time here. We flew in to Wellington, caught up with Loz from school, went up to Auckland and caught up with Phil from Japan. We bought a van to get around + sleep in and headed up to the far north. Our first morning we had a sad yet amazing experience rescuing beaches pilot whales! We woke up in the campsite about 9 in the morning with someone outside asking us if we wanted to help save some whales. When we arrived we couldn't believe it - there were about 30 of them! We had to work hard to keep them wet and their blowholes clear. We managed to turn them over and get them into the sea at high tide. We then to sit in there and hold them for about 2 hours until we could set them all free at the same time. It was great to see them released again but sad for the ones that couldn't make it. We were finished at around 2pm, were interviewed making it into a national paper! Since then we've visited the cape, a good surf spot, been along a ninety mile beach, 4wd up a stream with quick sand and sand boarded down some giant dunes. We are now doing wwoofĂng - we are staying on a crazy hobby chicken farm where we do 3-4 hours work a day for free food and accomodation. There are hundrens of free range chooks, 4 geese, 2 snauchner dogs and a goat. Its fun feeding them and the hosts are really kind and interesting and cook amazing meals. mmmm. Well thats enough for now. I'll try to upload some pics. Keep in touch!
